The hosts for the first time this season after a sloppy start to game found themselves 2 - 0 behind within the opening 10 minutes of this encounter with the away side playing some quality tidy football, leaving the manager to ponder a few things.
However the boys finally woke up and started to play in patches some of the football that has got them a good start to the season and were creating a few chances. One of these resulted in Patrick putting the ball into the net from a Dan Norris cross but this was rightly ruled out by the ref as he hadn't blown the whistle.
However Patrick was to get on the score sheet moments later with a quality counter attack from one end of the pitch to the other included George throwing the ball to Alex at left back, he hit a delightful ball down the line for Mitchell the captain of the day to square the ball to Patrick on the edge of the box. He took a touch to set himself and hit an unstoppable shot past the goalie to get the game to 2-1 at halftime.
A few words from the manager at halftime seemed to work and Willett came out with some fire in their belly. This showed as numerous chances were being created by the hosts and with the away goalkeeper on form as well as us being unable to be more clinical in front of goal. A special praise to Gabriel who came on at halftime and played his best game in a Willett shirt and he was involved in almost every attacking move with his hold up play and passing between the midfielders.
The away team were dangerous on the break and created a few half chances but in truth their fitness began to show and were being run all over the place by our wingers. With time was ticking away the equaliser did finally come with 8 minutes left a through ball by James found Liam and he hit the ball high towards goal. The goalie couldn't quite stretch high enough to tip it over and could only help it on its way into the back of the net.
The home side pressed for the winner and created some more half chances but it was the away side on the counter who created the best chance but fortunately the striker sliced his shot away from goal.
This was how the game was to end in a very entertaining game for the neutral and a bit of a lesson for Willett with them hopefully learning we cant afford to start slowly in any game but at the same time cant fault all the players fight and effort in the second half.
